Mi investigación se relaciona con: (1) la taxonomía y sistemática de anfibios y reptiles; (2) la diversidad, biogeografía y ecología de anfibios, reptiles y
aves; y (3) la conservación de la biodiversidad. La región geográfica donde se concentran mis estudios es América Neotropical, en especial Ecuador.
Estoy particularmente interesado en los factores que determinan los patrones de distribución de las especies; la historia biogeográfica que une a grupos
de diferentes vertebrados (i.e., aves, reptiles y anfibios) y sus áreas de distribución; la estandarización de metodologías de muestreo; y el análisis de los
efectos directos e indirectos de actividades antropogénicas en la conservación a largo plazo de poblaciones y especies. Mis proyectos incluyen la
aplicación de sistemas de información geográfica y modelamiento ambiental.

My research is related to: (1) taxonomy and systematics of amphibians and reptiles; (2) diversity, biogeography and ecology of amphibians,
reptiles, and birds; and (3) biodiversity conservation. The geographic region where my studies are developed is Neotropical America, particularly
Ecuador. Especially, I am interested in the factors that determine the distribution patterns of the species; the biogeographic history that joins groups
of different vertebrates (i.e., birds, reptiles, and amphibians) and their distribution areas; the standardization of sampling methods; and the analysis of
the direct and indirect effects of anthropogenic activities on the long-term conservation of populations and species. My projects include the application
of geographical information systems and environmental modelling.
